Happy Holidays and Guess My Size

Guess My Size #1

Good morning fellow jewelry junkies – are you having a good holidays? Mine have been okay, though I’ve been having to deal with some ugly personal issues, but that story is for another day, and not what I’m writing about today.

Some of you may have noticed the ring sale I have running in my Etsy Shop – now even though I’m saving for a good video camera to do video tutorials (Santa skipped my house), and taking advantage of my sale would be really cool, that’s not why I’m writing today either. 🙂

Aside from needing a video camera, I started the sale because I realized I’m buried in rings. You see when I make rings (and all jewelry in general) I don’t really make them with shop inventory in mind. To break it down, I’d say about 50% are made in developing new designs for tutorials; 20% I make for myself (though I really don’t need any more); and the other 30% I make just to see what I come up with.

While I was (am) photographing and listing pieces, I’ve run across quite a few, that for one reason or another I can’t “sell” them. To me they have some kind of  ‘flaw’, and I would hate for someone to buy them and notice the flaw, though I am my own worst critic (I’m told), and the buyer probably wouldn’t see a flaw.

In any case, I can’t just throw them away – they are all made with good crystals or gems and Sterling Silver and/or 14K Gold Filled wire. Soooo, the reason I’m writing this post (you knew I’d get around to it sooner or later) is to have some fun with them.

:)Simply put – You guess the ring’s size, and I’ll send it to you – for FREE. Yes, you read that right – for FREE, the first person to guess the size of the current ring offered gets that ring, no strings attached. I’m only going to post one ring at a time – when someone wins it, I’ll post another one (I have about a half dozen or so right now, and I’m sure I’ll add more). If you’d like a sneak peek at some of the rings that will end up in this game, I will post them on my Facebook Page in the photo folder “Guess My Size” – note: the order of the photos is not the order they will show up here, hee hee.

You’re welcome to comment on the photos, but guesses posted on rings other than the current ring won’t count and will be deleted. I guess that would be a rule  – there has to be rules right?   Rule #2 – You have to subscribe to my blog  – that’s to your benefit too, so you get notified the minute I post a new ring in the game 🙂 Rule #3 – You only get 2 guesses – one in a comment here, and one on the Facebook post – if you post more guesses in either place, I’ll just use your first ones. That’s enough rules right? Play nice so I don’t have to add anymore 🙂 For a third guess at the current ring offered, share this post on Facebook, and let me know in a comment here or on Facebook 🙂

Guess my size #1The first ring up is Sterling Silver and a Vintage Swarovski Crystal that WAS the color ‘Seal’. The ring was in the tumbler for only 5 stinkin’ minutes, and all the color’s gone? See the ‘flaw’? 🙂 As a rule, short spins in the tumbler have no affect on the crystals, but not for this one I guess. I suppose I should be grateful to find that out now, but I paid an awful lot for those crystals to have the color come right out :(. Other than that it’s a great ring – have fun, and Guess My Size 😀

See ya soon – good luck,

Bobbi

Vitrail Medium Trillion ‘Marcella’ Ring

I played around with these cute 8mm vintage trillion “sew-ons” a couple of weeks ago – the photos are quick kinda crappy phone pics, but you get the idea. They make a sweet ring, even if they are a bit fiddly to work with. They are on my play list for today for another ring and maybe some earrings too 😀

Where’s The Mens Cab Ring Tutorial

I recently posted a new tutorial Mens Cab Ring. It has since been pulled from publication on all my sites. It was reported to me, that someone I have respected for a long time felt my design looked to close to theirs. While the text and images and construction is my own, in deference to this person I have removed the tutorial from sale. I felt I developed improved techniques for constructing a ring of this type. The text that I wrote and the pictures I took reflected these improvements in techniques.

While I realize this is a disappointment to some of you, I felt this was the correct thing to do. I may apply these same improved techniques to another project, and will certainly let everyone know when that happens. I appreciate your inquiries, and support.

Lesson in Patience Dressed Up for Dinner at Perri’s

Sometimes it pays to stay up til 4:30 in the morning .
This is the ring from my tutorial Lesson in Patience Prong Ring Tutorial – dressed up with a variation of Perri’s (Shaktipaj) Periwinkle Bead Cap Tutorial .
The design hit me after seeing an antique dinner ring in a nearby antique mall – (I will try to get a picture of it to post). I used 28 and 30g GF wire, and 2mm and 4mm Swarovski Crystals.

Still playing with the combination of Perri’s Periwinkle and my Lesson tutorials. ~~In this pendant – the center stone is an 8mm faceted Olive Peridot CZ with 2mm and 4mm Swarovski crystals set in 14K GF wire.

Thank you for visiting…..

My 3rd Tutorial – YEA :)

Fancy Band is an advanced level project, although the instructions are very clear and thorough, and I’ve had many, many beginner to intermediate students successfully complete this project. It is 15 pages, with 43 clear crisp photos, and a total file size of 963KB.

This tutorial teaches you step by step, the techniques used to create this design, some of which were inspired by Dianne Karg Baron and Mr Jorgen Greftegraff. It is wonderful design to create an elegant lasting piece of jewelry.

I do suggest you have at least the basic skills and familiarity with wire wrapping before attempting this ring. If you’d like to build your skill set first, please see my other listings for beginner and intermediate level tutorials.
Please visit My Shop for this and other tutorials, and for complete kits that are also available for this –
Thank you for stopping by – see ya soon………………
